North West province on Thursday 7 July lost a senior
government official in a ghastly accident on the N18 near Vryburg. The official,
Kgakgamatso Nkewu who doubles as Social Development MEC and African national
congress (ANC) provincial Treasurer was on her way to Taung as part of
door-to-door campaigns of the party towards the local municipal election on
August 3.
Its reported that the vehicle she was travelling in hit a
cyclist which led to its somersault casuing the death of the MEC while the VIP
protectors who were with her are still hospitaliesd due inuries they had.
Community Safety MEC, Dr Mpho Motlhabane said, “We are
saddened about what happened … the two VIP protectors have been rushed to
hospital in critical condition.”
